Welcome to the Garden Zentangle® Workshop with CZT® Michelle Aalbers and CZT® Catherine 'Cat' Cronemeyer
The Zentangle Method, developed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create amazing drawings by assembling simple elements into complex structures of great beauty. Learn with Certified Zentangle Teacher Michelle Aalbers & Cat who are excited to help you create beautiful drawings you never thought possible.
This class is intended for those familiar with the Zentangle Method. We will be drawing on a Zendala tile. You may use anything you have at home but it is recommended you use something a little larger than the 3.5" official squatile.
You can find a complete Zendala kit at
zentangle.com/collections/other-tools/products/toolset
If you have watercolor pencils you can add those, too. This is optional. You can find them at zentangle.com/collections/pencils/products/kimberley-watercolor-pencil-12-piece-set
All sales are final. We are unable to give refunds for online courses. By purchasing you agree to use this content for personal use only. Content is presented in video format and meant to be shared with you and those in your household only.
We recommend going through the videos in order the first time you do them. After that, revisit the ones that you'd like to spend more time with. NOTE: Videos 2 and 3 have no sound. Play your favorite relaxing music and tangle along.
You can use any art supplies that you have on hand for this series. Ideally high quality watercolor paper, a fine tipped black pen, a soft pencil and a smudger to use for shading. You could also use watercolors, colored pencils or markers to add color once you are done drawing the tile.
Michelle & Cat use the following official Zentangle products in the videos:
- Bijou Tiles (2" square)
- Zendala Tiles (4.5" diameter)
- Sakura Pigma Micron 01
- General's pencils - graphite, white chalk, and watercolor
We hope you enjoy tangling along with me in this video series!

Course Curriculum
Hi, I’m Michelle.
I started teaching the Zentangle® Method in 2016. This practice has so many wonderful life lessons infused in it. I love to share this method with people. I never considered myself creative, certainly not an artist. This method makes art accessible to everyone. I hope you enjoy tangling along with me in this workshop.
Hi, I'm Cat.
Catherine “Cat” Cronemeyer has lived in Minnesota for most of her life and has loved to adventure and create since she was young. From finger painting, pumpkin carving, and crocheting to papermaking, watercolors, and alcohol inks; she is willing to try it all! She also has embroidery, cross-stitch, crochet, art journals, scrapbooks, travel books, card making, and quilting projects in the works. Much of her work features upcycled and recycled components and because of this, many of the things she makes are one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Cat is a Certified Zentanlge Teacher (CZT) and has been teaching classes at Jai Dee. By day she is a psychologist and is bringing some of these skills to Jai Dee as well, with leading a Destress Class and speaking in the Choose Yourself Series.
